Previous Charity Events

We pride ourselves on being a group of enthusiasts who give back to the community of North Carolina through events and charitable donations.  Each year, members of the Society select one or two North Carolina charities to donate to.

2019 Spring Event Fund Raiser - $26,900.00

This was NCBS 1st Charity event. Funds for this event were split between "The Dragonfly House" and "Metavivor". We were a very small group, just trying to make a difference. There are no photos from this event; however, there are plenty of photos from the presentations below.

The Dragonfly House - Share the Love Gala

The Dragonfly House Children’s Advocacy Center is a 501c3 non-profit agency that provides confidential, coordinated services to boys and girls ages birth through 17.  These services include forensic interviews, child abuse medical exams, victim advocacy and support, mental health treatment, coordinated case review services, and community outreach & education.  All of our services are free of charge and are offered to the child & their non-offending family members for the life of their case and for as long as they need afterwards.

This was are 1st donation as a group, not bad for a small group, only about a year old.

METAvivor - Triangle Metsquerade

METAvivor is dedicated to the specific fight of women and men living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. At the time of METAvivor’s founding, no organization was dedicated to funding research for the disease and no patient groups were speaking out about the dearth of stage 4 cancer research.  While more and more people have taken up the cry for more stage 4 research, METAvivor remains the sole US organization dedicated to awarding annual stage 4 breast cancer research.

This was our 2nd donation as a group and one that hit close to home. A member of the Society was battling stage 4 cancer. She has since lost that battle; however, we keep fighting in her name.

Unit Scholarship Fund

 The USF is an ALL-VOLUNTEER, non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) organization, and since its establishment in 1993, it has honored our Fallen Special Operations Soldiers by awarding merit based post-secondary educational memorial scholarships to the Daughters, Sons and Spouses of America’s most elite Fighting Force.

For our 2nd fundraiser we will started our day at Southern Grace Distilleries in Mt. Pleasant where Leanne and her staff provided us a VIP behind the scenes tour of the old Prison that is now the home of their award winning Conviction bourbon (as well as a few other labels). This tour lasted a little over 2 hours. From there, we headed over to 73 & Main for dinner and the donation presentation to the USF Board Members.

Donation = $2,020.00

2020 Spring Event Fund Raiser - $22,049.00

For our third event, the Society once again chose the The Dragonfly House Children’s Advocacy Center as the primary charity to raise funds for. NCBS teamed up with a local Raleigh Restaurant - Uninhabited for dinner and drinks for the event. NCBS members came out in full force and it was standing room only that night .
